AT HOME IN NYC

Norwegian Breakaway's new home is New York's Manhattan Cruise Terminal. There is always a “wow” factor when cruising into New York City and sighting Manhattan’s soaring skyline and the iconic Statue of Liberty.

Norwegian Cruise Line’s newly launched Norwegian Breakaway, carrying 4028 passengers, is the latest ship to call NYC home. She makes no secret of her love for the city as her hull is exuberantly decorated with a psychedelic outline of Manhattan’s skyline by celebrated New York pop artist Peter Max.

Onboard Norwegian Breakaway the New York theme continues with entertainment that includes three Broadway shows, an ice bar with ice carvings of the Brooklyn Bridge and the Chrysler building, and an outdoor hotdog stand on one of the ship’s 18 decks.

Norwegian Breakaway will cruise from New York to Bermuda through the northern summer and to the Bahamas and Florida in winter.

Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Magic made the Manhattan Cruise Terminal her homeport last year, joining ships from Holland America and Carnival Cruise Line, while Cunard and Princess cruise lines sail out of the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal.

With the strong Australian dollar, visitors from Down Under, including australiancruisingnews.com, now fly to New York to join cruises sailing up the coast to New England and Canada’s Quebec City, or south to the Caribbean, which saw a 36 per cent increase to almost 17,500 Australians cruise passengers visiting last year.
