With so many fantastic food choices on board 24/7, cruise passengers are forgiven for putting on a few extra kilos after a holiday at sea. On the other hand there are so many lively activities on today’s cruise ships that active passengers are likely to find the weight dropping off, even when eating big-time
australiancruisingnews.com notes that those set to get ship-shape this year can be part of an energetic bootcamp by personal trainer Shannan Ponton, of Australian TV’s The Biggest Loser, on board Carnival cruise ships.
Following the success of last year’s Bootcamp at Sea, Shannan will again guide passengers through fitness programmes on a week-long South Pacific cruise on Carnival Spirit from Sydney on July 8, and another on Carnival Legend on November 4.
Shannan will also hold motivational seminars to inspire those on board to set themselves long term fitness goals, and he is likely to surprise them by leading one of his trademark spin classes, or turn up for an early morning run around the ship’s outdoor jogging track.
Recalling last year’s Bootcamp at Sea, Shannan says, “To see well over 500 people of all sizes, ages and abilities having an absolute blast on the top deck of Carnival Spirit blew me away. The energy, fun and passion was contagious and this year I’m keen to smash the record and get even more passengers involved”.
He hopes his motivational seminars will help fellow cruisers get the most from life. “It’s going to be great for anyone who feels they’ve fallen into a rut, had trouble sticking to eating and training plans, or those who just need to reboot and fire up. There will even be a few hilarious stories and secrets from my career on TV’s The Biggest Loser… off-the-record of course,” carnival.com.au
